war no more

war no more starts with a barrage of cacophony and physical violence as the players use extreme bow pressure to generate a hail of grating noise.  Sirens approach, pass, and fade into the distance.  A quiet hymn begins, struggling to realize its tune.

This piece was commissioned as part of Network for New Music’s Caffeinated Composer Project 2014.  It was started at 6 PM on January 24, 2014, and completed at 4 PM on January 26, 2014.  A total of seven large cups of coffee were consumed during the writing process.
