dedications is a suite for solo cello in which the three movements aim to capture different moods and identities of important cellists in my life.  The first movement, (no)tes, just music is regal and lyrical while exploring the wide register of the instrument.  It is written in spatial notation and dedicated to Bard College Professor Emeritus cellist Luis Garcia-Renart.  lullaby creates a placid and meditative atmosphere and is dedicated to my grandmother - who if she played an instrument, would have chosen to play the cello.  The last movement, gestures, uses more abrupt and disjunct figures.  This movement was written for my sister, who is a former cellist.
